1080P HD Auto Infrared Body Camera with Wide Angle Lens - DVR for Security, Police, Law Enforcement & Night Surveillance

First let me qualify where our feedback is coming from. We are a small Private Security Company providing high end protection to a high profile clientele and neighborhood . . . not your run of the mill security guard. We are very picky about equipment. For example, night shift agents are equipped with FLIR night vision.We EXTENSIVELY tested two of these cameras in every which way we could . . . resolution, day, night, charging time, run time, flexibility, night performance, etc . . .The cameras on its regular battery (the extended battery gave us some issue so we can’t give it a good review) is supposed to run 5 hours. The extended camera did less but they were aftermarket batteries, which were a bad idea. That said there are a LOT of good things about our experience with them:• It took about 8 minutes to download the 22 GB the camera recorded. That is shear speed! Other cameras we tried in the past would take 40 minutes to download half as much, presenting a major labor cost for us.• The automatic night vision is sensational! In three different models of cameras we have tried this was by far the best night vision system. It never failed and made our ability to navigate from daylight to darkness seamless.• The quality of the recording is excellent.• The camera died after running between 3 and 6 hours. There is no telling for sure why it stopped but everything indicates that it is due to the aftermarket supposedly “Extended” batteries we ordered with them. It was disappointing to know we had been shipped untested equipment.• The aftermarket extended battery seems to be a major issue.o The charging time is far in excess of advertise (18 hours to recharge the battery even after just a couple of hours of use)The physical aspect of the camera• The setup of having the camera separate from the DVR is very good.• The DVR is small enough to fit reasonably well in a uniform front pocket, even from a carrier.• The camera is small and light enough to hang almost anywhere.• The camera clip attachment is smart:o It doesn’t tear the uniform.o It rotates easily, yet hold the position even when the wearer is running.It could be a bit stronger but it did the job just fine.• A couple of different length cable options would help a lot the overall setup.• The automated night vision switch is excellent.• The recording quality and consistency is excellent.• The constant LED blinking has pros and cons:o Cons, at night it is not discreet and it looks silly to professionals. We even had a cop commenting on it during a meet-up on patrol . . .this was easily addressed by putting a small piece ofo Pros, when you deal with the general public every flash of the red LED reminds them that they are being filmed, it makes them a lot more pleasant to deal with: they stay polite and watch their speech and attitude. Really effective.The ability to turn the red LED “on” and “off”, I was told, is coming in the new version of software, which will be another plus.• The DVR functions are easy to use.o The screen is crisp.o The vibration helps confirm that the DVR turns “on” and “off”.o The memory card is hard to extract. It requires a pen or tool to push it in to extract it.What does that mean for the overall use of the camera?We really wanted to keep them because they work great despites the minor few issues, but we were concerned about the filming time and could never try the camera with the normal battery which we heard performs as advertised (runs over 5 hours and charges in three, which is all we need).At this stage we haven’t settled on a camera yet, but the shear download speed of this camera is really attractive.
